Boosting Happiness

How does one achieve happiness? That’s a great question that I feel like all of us are trying to answer on a daily basis! I have been taking college courses for the last year and a half and this week I started a class called Contemporary Health.  Now, I didn’t really know exactly what to expect with this class, but already, I am impressed! This week we are talking all about happiness, and why certain people are happy and others are not! As I was reading through the text book chapters assigned to me, I read this…”Positive activities also boost positive emotions like happiness. One of the most effective is performing small acts of kindness” (Hales, 2017, p. 28). When I read this, I thought to myself that this is exactly what I am trying to promote with this blog! Not only do small acts of kindness make an impact on those who receive the act of kindness, but they also impact the person who provides the act of kindness.  It doesn’t get any better than that!!

With that said, I recently evaluated how well I was doing with my commitment to kindness. In my evaluation, I actually felt like I had dropped the ball on my acts of kindness.  Like I was letting things slip that I knew were important to me.  A friend reminded me that I shouldn’t look at it as though I had dropped the ball or failed, but that there is always room for improvement.  So, I am re-committing to kindness, starting today.  I caught up on responding to letters that had been sent to me by mail and even dropped a few other notes of appreciation in the mail as well.  My personal goal is to be more intentional with my spreading of kindness and I hope you all will join me!
